Job Description & Requirements
Computed Tomography Technologist - (CT Tech)
StartDate: ASAP
Available Shifts: 12 N
Pay Rate: $2204.00 - $2272.00
This CT Technologist position is based at a hospital in Lorain, Ohio, a community along the southern shore of Lake Erie. Lorain offers easy access to waterfront parks, beaches, marinas, and lakefront trails, making it appealing for those who enjoy outdoor activities, boating, or simply relaxing by the water. The city is within driving distance of Cleveland, giving you access to big-city dining, culture, sports, and entertainment while still enjoying a more affordable and relaxed lifestyle. Lorain and surrounding Lorain County feature local festivals, performing arts, and family-friendly attractions, along with a growing downtown waterfront area.
The hospital is a busy acute care facility that provides 24/7 imaging support to emergency, inpatient, and outpatient populations. As a CT Technologist on nights, you will play a key role in supporting emergency, stroke, and inpatient services when rapid and accurate imaging is critical. You will work with modern CT technology, integrated PACS, and a robust EMR platform that streamlines workflow and communication with radiologists and providers.
Typical responsibilities include performing a full range of CT examinations, including head, chest, abdomen/pelvis, musculoskeletal studies, CT angiography, and trauma protocols. You will screen patients for contraindications, obtain relevant clinical histories, position patients accurately, and use proper immobilization and shielding as appropriate. Dose management and adherence to ALARA principles are emphasized, as is consistent image quality to support confident diagnosis. You will collaborate closely with emergency physicians, hospitalists, and radiologists to ensure critical exams are prioritized and completed within expected timeframes.
On a typical night, you can expect a mix of ED, inpatient, and occasional add-on outpatient CT exams. Volume will vary, but you should be comfortable with a steady flow of stat and urgent cases and able to transition quickly between trauma, stroke, and routine imaging. You will often be part of a small, cohesive night-shift imaging team, which may include radiologic technologists and occasionally ultrasound or MRI coverage, depending on the night’s needs.
Shifts are night-based, providing consistency for those who prefer overnight work. Hours are generally full-time with rotating weekends and holidays as part of a 24/7 department. The night schedule offers the benefit of less daytime traffic, a quieter hospital environment overall, and opportunities to develop expertise in emergency and critical care imaging.
This role is well suited to technologists who value autonomy, enjoy working in a high-acuity environment, and want to build a strong CT portfolio that includes trauma and advanced protocols. The hospital emphasizes safe patient care, continuous quality improvement, and support for technologists in maintaining their certifications and staying current with evolving imaging practices.
