MRI Technologist - (MRI Tech)
StartDate: 8/10/2026
Available Shifts: 8 D
Pay Rate: $2500.00 - $2576.00
This MRI Technologist opportunity is based in Edenton, North Carolina, a picturesque and historic waterfront community along the Albemarle Sound. Edenton is known for its charming downtown, beautifully preserved architecture, and inviting small-town atmosphere. The area offers a peaceful coastal lifestyle with plentiful outdoor activities such as boating, kayaking, fishing, and biking, as well as scenic parks and waterfront walkways. Residents enjoy a close-knit community, local shops and restaurants, seasonal festivals, and easy access to beaches and larger North Carolina cities for additional cultural and recreational options.
The facility serves as a key healthcare provider for Edenton and the surrounding region, delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care in a supportive and collaborative environment. As part of a respected regional health network, the imaging department benefits from established protocols, strong clinical leadership, and access to system-wide resources and best practices. The MRI service line is integrated into a broader diagnostic imaging program that includes CT, ultrasound, X-ray, and other modalities, providing a well-rounded setting for professional growth.
In this role, the MRI Technologist is responsible for performing a wide range of MRI examinations for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients. Typical cases may include neurological, musculoskeletal, abdominal, vascular, and spine imaging, with opportunities to assist with more advanced studies depending on departmental needs and experience. You will be accountable for patient preparation and education, screening for MRI safety, accurately positioning patients, selecting and optimizing protocols, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists.
A typical day includes collaborating closely with radiologists, nurses, and fellow technologists to manage the daily MRI schedule, coordinate add-on and urgent cases, and provide compassionate care to patients of all ages and backgrounds. You will perform pre- and post-scan assessments, start IV lines for contrast administration as required, and document all exams thoroughly in the electronic medical record and imaging systems. Emphasis is placed on maintaining a safe MRI environment, adhering strictly to safety screening processes, and following established policies for equipment operation and emergency response.
Patient volumes are structured to support both quality and efficiency, with attention to maintaining reasonable exam slots and prioritizing patient comfort. Depending on department configuration, the MRI suite may serve a mix of scheduled outpatients and time-sensitive inpatient and emergency cases, requiring flexibility and strong organizational skills. The MRI Technologist may rotate between day, evening, or weekend shifts, and may participate in on-call coverage to support after-hours imaging needs.
The department is committed to a team-oriented culture where technologists support one another, share best practices, and participate in ongoing education and skills development. There may be opportunities to train on advanced protocols, cross-train in additional modalities if desired, and contribute to departmental initiatives focused on image quality, workflow efficiency, and patient experience. Working in this environment allows you to build a strong clinical skill set, gain exposure to a range of case types, and grow within a larger health system that values professional development and high standards of care.
This position is ideal for an MRI Technologist who values a balance of meaningful work and a high quality of life. Edenton’s combination of historic charm, waterfront beauty, and welcoming community, paired with the stability and resources of an established health system, creates an appealing setting for both emerging and experienced imaging professionals.
